A typical approach when simulating sound propagation in complex scenes is using the concept of geometrical acoustics. Every simulation framework is based on certain assumptions, which are limiting the scenarios they can be applied to. At DAGA 2021, we presented two frameworks. The Atmospheric Ray Tracing framework allows the simulation of curved sound propagation paths considering the inhomogeneity and movement of the atmosphere and a ground reflection. It is designed for the purpose of aircraft noise auralization. On the other hand, the image edge model is used to simulate straight paths in urban areas considering higher order reflections and diffraction.In this contribution, we present a method for combining both approaches. The goal is to consider the aforementioned propagation effects of both frameworks. This is of particular interest for the auralization of aircraft flyovers close to residential areas.
