Abstract:
For the acoustic detection and binaural reproduction of rooms, binaural room impulse responses (BRIRs) are a key element. In addition to measure BRIRs with an artificial head, they can also be synthesized from "spatial" room impulse responses (SRIRs), using the "Spatial Decomposition Method" (SDM). Based on these BRIRs, direction- and position-dependent room acoustic parameters, such as reverberation times and energy ratios, can be calculated. The resulting parameter data set can be analyzed using multivariate techniques. Based on the acoustic parameters, a classification of the measurement data can be performed. The presented procedure describes an approach for simplified inspection and evaluation of a multitude of room acoustic measurements. The paper provides a toolbox of methods for the acquisition and acoustic analysis of SRIRs as well as for the spatial acoustic evaluation of the measurements as well as a simplified auralization.
